Dutch Unmanned

A new foundation for drones, built to push past existing boundaries.

Operational limits in the market

Anyone who needs reliable aerial data often gets stuck between two extremes in the field. Large VTOL systems are technically highly capable, but they cost a fortune and lock you into a rigid ecosystem. Modifying the system yourself or mounting a different camera is out of the question; everything is completely locked down, both in software and hardware.

Alternatively, you choose a compact quadcopter to easily take off and land in tight spaces. But standard off-the-shelf models quickly fail on a steel ship deck or near heavy industrial installations due to GPS interference and magnetometers going completely haywire. On top of that, most electric quadcopters on the market fly for 45 minutes at most. That simply doesn’t cut it when your mission requires hours in the air to cover kilometers.

Agility without limitations

We do things differently. Our drone is built from the ground up using the knowledge and standards of manned aviation next to that we take lessons learned from the fast paced world that we live in and apply this in our innovation cycle. The result is a platform truly built for the rugged reality of the field. The drone takes off and lands exactly where the work needs to be done, even in tight or windy spots. If a landing happens to be unexpectedly rough, the robust build easily absorbs the impact.

The technology inside runs entirely on open-source hardware and firmware. This means you benefit directly from thousands of updates released by the global community every year. The system never becomes obsolete, and your engineers can easily add custom scripts directly to the software.

We don’t believe in vendor lock-in. That is why we simply make the drone’s CAD models available to you. Whether you want to install a thermal camera or mount a servo-controlled life vest for the coast guard, you can modify the non-flight-critical hardware yourself, without needing us. Of course, we are always here for advice or custom engineering, but you remain completely in control of your own equipment.
